Worth It - Week 1

BIG IDEA

Perfect justice comes through perfect love.

KEY VERSES

Hosea 1:2-4

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. In our opening story about betrayal, what do you think makes us naturally want justice or payback when someone hurts us? Why is it so hard to choose forgiveness instead?

  2. If your closest friend kept making choices that hurt themselves and others around them, would you eventually give up on them? What would make you stay or walk away? How does this help us understand God's perspective in Hosea?

  3. We saw how God chose to pursue Israel despite their constant unfaithfulness. Think about your own life - what are some 'idols' or things that compete with God for first place in your life? Why do you think these things have such a strong pull?

  4. In Hosea, God's justice isn't just about punishment - it's about restoration. How is this different from how our world typically thinks about justice? What would our school/community look like if we pursued this kind of justice?

  5. The book of Hosea shows us that love and justice can exist together. Can you think of a time when someone loved you enough to hold you accountable for your actions? How did that experience change you?
